How did you get started with photography

I lived in Spain for two years while serving in the United States Navy. I bought my first camera there, and fell in love with travel and the stories a camera can tell. For the next decade I pushed myself to learn everything I could about photography, trying every time of genre along the way.

What do you love about your job?

People. When I was in the Navy, my training as a Corpsman meant that I was always put in serious roles. Whether I was preparing to deploy to the middle east as part of an emergency medical team, helping to diagnose a service member's child, or performing surgery alongside as doctor, the time I put into my days always mattered. I knew that when I left the military that I wanted to do something that mattered, that made me proud of how I helped others. Photography has given to that me in spades. A camera is just a tool--what matters most is the connection.

What are some of your favorite places in Philadelphia to take photographs?

As a fashion and wedding photographer, I am always looking for the location and the subject to inspire me--beauty is found by accepting the real world, not preferring "something else". What is most exciting is solving a creative problem. I tell my brides, "you find the perfect dress, I'll find the perfect light."
