More about Victor P....
What do you love about your job?
Photographing people helps me use my storytelling skills — every person, every face, is unique, and part of me intensely desires to call forth expressions from each subject so that viewers might glean something authentic about the person. Fair warning: I tend to get voluble when I see things in my viewfinder. I've been told on more than one occasion that my joy is contagious.
What types of shoots have you done and how did you make them special?
I've done a mix of family portraits, weddings, model tests, headshots, and the (very) occasional product shoot. I find topics of mutual interest with my subjects so we can have a genuine conversation and they leave the shoot feeling they've made a new friend. I feel ecstatic when they leave glowing reviews of the experience on Facebook and Instagram.
Awards, honors, and recognitions received
As part of the Help-Portrait Calgary team, received the 2019 Kindness Award from the Calgary Drop-In and Rehabilitation Centre for six years taking professional portraits of homeless people after they've been pampered by hairstylists and makeup artists.
A fun fact about this photographer
I briefly explored the possibility of designing women's fashion in my early teens. I also tried to write a play in first year college, but gave up on it.
