I've always sought artistic outlet , drawing, painting, constructing furniture but in the end my "eye" for photography won out. I always loved great photography publications and as a boy found myself in the library flipping through, Nat. Geo. , Life, Look, and other publications featuring photographic essays of the world. Getting my first digital camera and professional printer I was captured by the magic of making a great photo. The entire process from concept to camera to editing to printing on paper , getting it right , getting it true to concept , it is magic to my heart. I started selling at my prints at art shows and did well developing a following of people looking for my work, ( can hardly call it work its so much fun ) . Over the years I've worked doing portraits for Lifetouch in schools, photographing sport teams , creating digital content for professional websites , real estate photography, food photography and drone work. I love to photograph anything, people, architecture, cars , street photography.
Having some classes under my belt to get the basic s down I am mostly self taught learning over many years the digital process from camera to editing to print.

More about Raymond J....

What do you love about your job?

I love almost all of it , traveling across Florida seeing the countryside i often discover places as I pass by that I return to to explore later.
I love, really love collaborating with the client hearing their concept and vison, talking with them about the photographic process , working together and watching things develop. Bringing a concept to fruition and creating great photos in the end .

What types of shoots have you done and how did you make them special?

I do a lot of Real Estate photograpy and getting the lighting and composition right is key, talking to the client and expressing the flow and character of a property is very important.
Portraits can be very challenging , I try and connect with people quickly, find something in common or something I admire about them, let them know they can trust me and be themselves, let it flow .
Food photograpy is fun, but I learned, don't go hungry. I like photograph food in a way that the photo has some POP, and not appear dull looking .

Awards, honors, and recognitions received

I shy away from photography contests in favor of pleasing myself and pleasing my client in the end that's what matters most , fulfillment and happiness . I find so often photography can be so subjective, what I see in a photograph can be different from what another person sees. I found that out in art shows talking to people who purchased my work, I am always delighted and find very interesting when someone explains one of my art photos to me in a way I did not see.

A fun fact about this photographer

I am an adventurer by nature, a wanderer, the person who always wants to know about what is around the next corner, how does that work and where does that road go.
From walking the Appalachian trail, sky diving, free rock climber, iron worker, commercial tree climber , surfing, competitive bodybuilder and wilderness traveler I have always gone where my heart leads me , photography is one of those places of adventure.
