More about Michelle L....
What do you love about your job?
There are so many things I love about being a photographer I don't even know where to begin. I love being able to document and capture emotions and moments in time that will make people feel like they are reliving that moment all over again years later that become a part of their history that they can then share with future generations and share their stories. Capturing moments naturally and organically as they happen with many behind the scene type candids where people don't even realise I am there.
Being the photographer that can put a smile on someone's face, share their special moments with them, document an event or brand, or capture a person in a way that highlights who they are or what their talent may be is what makes my job all the more worthwhile to be chosen to be that person that could document this for them.
What types of shoots have you done and how did you make them special?
I have done children's birthdays, intimate weddings, events, activations (mostly with children), portraits, many dance events and marketing photos, live concerts and band shoots.
My favourite shoot to date though was a surprise proposal which took part at Werribee zoo where I had to pretend to be a zoo marketing photographer in a behind the scenes cheetah experience with a group of 4 people. The couple and a mother and child and document the whole experience. Trying to be sneaky capturing longing glances between the couple, the fun moments of feeding birds and then leading up to the proposal, and the proposal itself was truly beautiful, it was a very special and beautiful moment. Editing the photographs and being able to relive the moment all over again actually gave me tears of joy, and the feedback I received from the couple also made me cry as they shared they look forward to sharing them with their future children. It was very heartwarming and very special to me that my photographs had such impact on people and something that I will truly always treasure. I hope to be a part of more photo shoots just like that.
A fun fact about this photographer
I used to dance hip hop and salsa and ran hip hop competitions nationally and internationally for over 8 years. Through this I frequented the Philippines 2-3 times a year and this is where my passion for live music photography developed and my passion for photography developed further as I would document all of my travels and the events I attended and ran.
When I'm not working, you will often find me down at the beach photographing kite surfers or surfers down at Torquay.
