More about Martin P....
What do you love about your job?
From the first moment I watched one of my images slowly and magically appear on photographic paper in a developing tray in a darkroom I was hooked! Even though the processes and equipment have changed over the years the wonder and joy of capturing a captivating image has never left me and remains to this day. There's nothing more rewarding than an idea becoming something more tangible and engaging - a great picture.
What types of shoots have you done and how did you make them special?
I worked for Rolling Stone Magazine for many years and have been privileged and fortunate to work with a some high profile people. I love working with other artists and trying to reveal a small piece of the real person behind the image and I enjoy trying to introduce some humour into my work. I treat every job as special and believe a great picture can be made with a subject you're familiar with or one you've never seen before.
Awards, honors, and recognitions received
Award winning and often a finalist in National Photographic Portrait Prize. Multiple works hanging in the National Portrait Gallery and my images make up a part of the National Library of Australia image archive.
A fun fact about this photographer
I have two young children that don't rate what I do as cool or interesting in the slightest - this helps me remain grounded and focused!
