More about Kerry S....
What do you love about your job?
What I love about photography is how it can be so personal -- to the photographer, to the subject -- but at the same time so universally relatable. It captures a specific moment in time, in the life of the person being photographed, in my own life, and shares it with the viewer, but also acts as a symbol and a backdrop onto which people project their own memories, daydreams, and desires.
I love collecting things, and photography is a means of collecting little moments of life. I love looking at photos and thinking about the significance of time being stopped forever at that exact fraction of a second, whether it's capturing some momentous occasion or just the minutiae of everyday life. It makes memories real.
What types of shoots have you done and how did you make them special?
The bulk of my photos are travel photos, portraits of friends, experimental self-portraits, and nightlife photos. I feel like every shoot I do is special in its own way because each session is a unique experience where I'm connecting with the people or places that I'm photographing.
I love branching out and trying new techniques. Each time I take photos a new set of challenges arise and I grow and improve as a photographer in new and exciting ways.
