More about Kay N....
What do you love about your job?
I am an absolute lover of light, whether natural or artificial, the important thing is it compliments the story we are trying to tell. As one of my professors enjoyed to reiterate: "Remember, Lighting can make you look like a God or a goat." Which is why I ask my clients: "How do YOU want to look like?" Do you want dramatic, neo-noir contrasts? Do you want to look soft and angelic or like a larger-than-life Disney villain? I love taking an idea, a concept, a person and turning it into a visual spectacle. I love challenging myself in special lighting situations such as low-light or black light.
What types of shoots have you done and how did you make them special?
I have worn so many hats in my life and I love applying a trick I've learned in one area onto another area of expertise. I have shot a lot of fashion/editorial, products/food, weddings, scientific and other photography. I always ensure that I understand exactly what the client is looking for, but I always add a few frames with my own twists and suggestions, which they generally love. My greatest strengths are that I'm a problem-solver and a perfectionist and no matter what goes wrong during a session (and there is no such thing as a flawless day), I will make the best out of it and deliver you stunning memories.
Awards, honors, and recognitions received
I've showcased my work in several galleries in and around Los Angeles in recent years.
A fun fact about this photographer
I play the piano, electric bass, flute and clarinet. I used to be a bassist in a rock band during university and yes, my hair-cut was embarrassingly punk/emo.
