More about Josephine K....
What do you love about your job?
My work in photography is a natural extension of my desire to tell stories. I'm a full time wedding, event and portrait photographer, and I feel so fortunate to have the natural ability to build rapport with my subjects and to make a lasting contribution to their story.
What types of shoots have you done and how did you make them special?
I have shot well over a thousand events including hundreds of weddings in my career and each one has its unique elements. I love capturing the atmosphere of the crowd and essence of my subjects as they interact with each other. I spent 5 month in Nepal a few years ago working as an NGO photographer and despite the language barrier, I captured the raw emotions of locals who were affected by natural disaster as well the volunteers who came to their rescue. The images I took are only a small reminder of the time I spent behind the scenes playing with the children; trekking for hours with the villagers to the sites and building a rapport with them during the course of the time. More recently, I landed an assignment which took me to Bangkok where I photographed a portfolio of 89 properties including hotels, resorts, and luxury serviced apartments over 5 months and I loved every minute of it!
Awards, honors, and recognitions received
My work has been published in Harper's Bazaar (Australia), Vogue Australia, Australian Financial Review, Style Me Pretty, Timeout Sydney, The Australian Newspaper, Famous Magazine, New Idea Magazine, WHO Weekly, Treadlie, and Stray Magazine to name a few.
A fun fact about this photographer
I love being on the water and living in Sydney I feel I have to make the most of it. I'm part of a dragon boat club we paddle 3 times a week and I also try to take our club kayaks out at least once a week. Its a great way to get fit with one of the most picturesque city skyline in the world as a backdrop.
