What do you love about your job?
My biggest happiness comes when people - even after years - tell me, that that one portrait that I took of them, still is one of their favourites. And even better, if a daughter or son tells me, that this one photo of their mother or father... that they really like that (or think it´s so cool).
On the other hand, love to see images I took for a company to show on their website and tell their story.
What types of shoots have you done and how did you make them special?
I have done many many portraits, a good number of personal brand photography, or simply produced imagery to carry a brands voice on their website.
It´s always about the planning and the ideation for motifs, that happens before any shoot, especially before larger shoots, where you could expect a detailed briefing for the shoot day.
For portraits or employee headshots, it's the my empathy and experience that helps me to get my subjects to loosen up and to show themselves.
A fun fact about this photographer
"jasper q photography" - Why is there a "q"?
You might think it stands either for quality or quantity?
But wrong thinking.
The reason is more mundane. In 1998, my good friend Paul gave all his friends their domain –IhrNachname.de – as a birthday present – except for me.
The domain jasper.de was already taken, to Jasper Bus Travel . Tough luck.
But we didn’t give up. When brainstorming for an alternative, “Q” from James Bond came to mind. Pronounced in American English, JASPER Q simply sounded casual.
I was able to secure the .photography domain extension in 2014. And voilà, jasperq.photography eventually became my company name:
