More about jane B....
What do you love about your job?
I love recording peoples special moments and helping them create their ancestral legacy to be shared with future generations. I love to tell the story of the day or the relationship I am photographing. It is important to me that the images represent my subjects in a creative yet relaxed natural way. I love seeing my clients faces when they see their photos and share them with joy and pride on social media. One of the benefits of doing this job is many clients become friends, you see their life develop, from engagement, to their wedding, and then the joy of their maternity shoot to the birth of the first born. being their to record all those moments and being trusted with this honour is something that makes me happy and proud to be doing what I do.
I also love product and food photography for different reasons, it enables to me to marry my photography skills with my sales and marketing experience, of which I have plenty. This gives allows me to see the product not just as a photographer, but how the client sees it, as their lively hood. I understand the importance of features and benefits in a product and how important strong branding is to the success of a product. So social media and product photography allow me to use the analytical part of my brain and put all my lifes experiences to good use.
What types of shoots have you done and how did you make them special?
I have done a variety of shoot styles. With weddings I get to know the couple well before the big day. Communication is very important to have them at ease with me on the day, I give them charts I have made on posing and tips on things to make the shoot enjoyable. We meet a couple of times and do location walk arounds so they can create a workable time table. On family or children's shoots I love to interact with the customers to get them relaxed. With most kids once they are relaxed its easy to get them to show off and become natural around you. I use humour to relax even the most stern face dad, or nervous mum. My goal is to show them in their best light, so I will discuss clothing, location and what they hope to achieve out of the shoot, this gives me a clear idea of how to approach the shoot. With product photography it is important to discuss the product with the client and what image they are wanting to portray. Having extensive sales and marketing experience myself this shows and helps them become more relaxed, as they can see I know where they are coming from.
