More about Frank S....
What do you love about your job?
I can sum this up in one word. Everything. I love the process, meeting people, the teamwork, creating images that make my clients smile, traveling, post production, all of it. After all this time, I still would rather have my camera in front of me than anything else. On the rare days I'm not working, I'll usually grab my camera and head out into nature to see what's going on.
What types of shoots have you done and how did you make them special?
I shoot commercially. By that mean I shoot for clients needing imagery for marketing, selling, advertising, etc. I've shot fashion on top of snow covered mountains, marine products while speeding along in a boat at 50mph, sharks from a few feet away, humpback whales, the Pope, and on and on. It's been great, I love it.
As far as making a shoot special, I think it's a combination of everything. Having a great team of creatives, catering, great equipment, creating a relaxed, fun atmosphere, etc.
Awards, honors, and recognitions received
Awards: A few of ADDY's for some advertising campaigns we did.
Recognition: I had a humpback whale lift her fin while she swam by me so she wouldn't hit me. She looked right at me as she did, acknowledging me and doing what she had to do to not harm me. (One of the best moments of my life!)
A fun fact about this photographer
I don't know if it's fun, but I like it. I usually get along great with animals. The whale story I mentioned above, a huge school of hammerheads accepting me, an Elk sniffing my face, covering me with Elk slobber, deciding I was safe, and then grazing right next to me. Coyotes joining me in the desert while I meditated. Waking up one morning while hiking to find a skunk curled up next to me to keep warm. My best friend for a while was an octopus. It goes on, I love it.
