More about Cynthia P....
What do you love about your job?
I love being able to capture memories that matter to families and friends. I get to bring creative ideas and watch my vision unfold to my clients.. and to watch or read their reactions when they see their photos. I also love how diverse my job is -- however, they all serve a purpose: show the best features of a person or in the case of product photography, evoke emotions so that it invites the viewer wanting to learn more.
What types of shoots have you done and how did you make them special?
Real estate photography - I basically pay attention to every little detail - making sure that all the toilet seats are down and that there are no clutter in the room.
Food photography - for a Vietnamese restaurant. I basically looked at the mood board of what the client had wanted and I replicated it by using a steam iron and backlight to create a hyper-real commercial type photo for bowls of pho.
Families - I help each family decide what to wear and ask many questions about the family. Any funny inside family jokes or what their kids like. Kids are just like people. Get them to talk and they would be much happier than saying "Cheese!"
Weddings - I listen to my couples to see what kind photos they want and if they have any special requests.
Awards, honors, and recognitions received
I got published in a few magazines and get hired often by other photographers to second shoot weddings and/or freelance real estate photography. With my own business, I have well over 48 reviews and a 4.8 star out of 5 stars rating on Google.
A fun fact about this photographer
I can play the piano and I can speak Mandarin Chinese & bits of Malay. (Born and raised in Brunei)
I used to teach kids piano -- that is where knowing how to communicate with kids come from. Respecting how they feel and letting them communicate with me if they don't feel like doing something. Nothing is ever forced. If they don't want to do something, we will move onto something else!
