More about Alex T....
What do you love about your job?
Beyond the philosophy of capturing magic moments I mentioned elsewhere in this profile, I love being a photographer because it gives me the chance to work in novel and exciting ways on such a huge variety of projects. I'm constantly afforded the opportunity to meet and work with fascinating people from all walks of life with a shared passion for creativity and storytelling. Whether that's the story of a brand or an individual, the chance to rise to new challenges and capture the essence of new narratives is a constantly rewarding prospect and one that is always a thrill.
What types of shoots have you done and how did you make them special?
I've done all sorts of shoots in my career, and each one has been incredibly special. When shooting portraits, I've always felt it crucial to put the subject at ease when in front of the lens. Some people are understandably trepidatious when being photographed, and to encourage the best out of subjects I always like to make an event of each shoot. Offering refreshments, playing their favourite music, and engaging them in jokes and conversation are all things I like to offer in order to put a subject at ease. When shooting events, I try to stay on the move as much as possible, engaging with each and every guest and ensuring I capture memories for all of them. I find, especially with event photography, it's important to strike that balance between engaging and observing, allowing me to get the best out of guests and create exceptional imagery without over imposing my presence.
Awards, honors, and recognitions received
I was honoured to be included in the Rankin's 2020 photo collection on Sky Arts and in print.
A fun fact about this photographer
I also run a Dungeons & Dragons Comedy Podcast called Roll Britannia, where we play Dungeons & Dragons terribly but have a lot of fun doing it. The Roll Britannia podcast is available on all podcast platforms.
