More about Victor G....
What do you love about your job?
I really enjoy 'making something from nothing'. When you take a new photo that's different than others, you can change a perception about something. In terms of portraiture, some people just hate how they look and when you get the right shot of that person you can flip their opinion of themselves entirely. It's a great confidence booster. That's fun. The same can be true of anything that gets photographed -- you can change how a thing is seen and understood. My still photography segues into my text and video storytelling work too. It's one moment that can be used to illustrate or augment other media.
What types of shoots have you done and how did you make them special?
I've shot many, many portraits. Quite a few of the people I've photographed are very shy and introverted and my goal has been to make them feel comfortable. I do this by feeding my confidence into them -- sometimes I tell a joke, sometimes I have to have them play a part like asking them to pretend they are a shoplifter who just stole all the candy from the candy store. That makes them smile and *snap* I got the shot.
Awards, honors, and recognitions received
I once received a 'barnstar' from the Wikimedia community for my work documenting the SOPA/PIPA protest blackout of Wikipedia:

Aside from that, I've earned a design award for a video I produced which was literally a 35mm still image slideshow captured from a Kodak slide projector, edited and timed for effect:
