Lawrence Fung M,F,A is an award-winning filmmaker and photographer who explore the complementary subject relationship between dance and landscape. The multi-hyphenate artist started out as a choreographer who traveled the world with dance. With a wonderlust spirit, Fung started taking landscape and street photography through his travels.

His early works landed him an internship with the Harper's Bazaar/Cosmopolitan Magazine in Hong Kong where he worked as an editorial fashion and lifestyle photographer in the style department.

During his graduate years at Arizona State University where we studied visual arts and dance, Fung focused on refining his photography style in dance and environment.

He is now a multi-awarding winning dance filmmaker and photographer where his films has toured and received awards in dance film festivals nationally and has exhibited his photography in Museum and gallery spaces such as the Nelson Fine Arts Center in Tempe, Arizona and the Foundre/Contemporary in downtown Phoenix.

What do you love about your job?

I love creating a narrative through photography that brings one to wonder. A wonder that leads to inspirations where everyone can experience a bit of magic and joy in their lives.

What types of shoots have you done and how did you make them special?

I've been landscape, aeriel, street, portrait, dance, and architecture, and to make them special requires a good amount of preparation and collaboration with various artists.

A fun fact about this photographer

I am also a professional choreographer and dancer and I've got my masters in dance! My thesis research was how environmental psychology affect dance and I created an-evening length concert with stage performance, dance short films, and photographic prints to translate my research.
