What do you love about your job?

I love that I can use my skills to help other companies grow. I often collaborate with small marketing agencies or web designers to create images matching a brand for websites. Visual content makes a huge difference on web sites or marketing material. I thoroughly enjoy people, the variety of work coming my way and the glimpses of insight in other businesses. I am big on custom relations and like to form collaborations with marketing managers and web designers, I believe working together on a regular basis makes the process better for everybody involved.

What types of shoots have you done and how did you make them special?

One of my latest shoots was for a company selling ready-made meals with a home-made feel to it. I brought most my food photography props, styled new for every dish and shot tethered so the client could see what we captured. Prior to the shoot I got in touch with their web-designer to confirm the ratio of images he needs and was able to check (while shooting tethered) that the composition matched the requirements for the web-site. The client was very impressed, the lady plating the meals loved the variety of plates I provided for her, the owner enjoyed my flexibility to fit into their busy schedule and the web-designer was delighted. He said the images will make a huge difference to the website.

Awards, honors, and recognitions received

Although I haven't participated in any competitions, I consider my client testimonials my awards. In the past, I've had the privilege of hosting a few solo photography exhibitions, one of which was in Germany, showcasing a stunning collection of New Zealand's cities and landscapes. The openings were a resounding success, and the commendations I still receive today are incredibly heartwarming.

A fun fact about this photographer

For 9 long years we had a pet golden bell frog in a tank. Over summer we usually caught the flies out in the garden. Over the years we came up with several original fly trap inventions, but the good old net still works the best. It's amazing how excited one can get catching 5 flies in one go!
