What do you love about your job?

Being a photographer is a remarkable journey that grants me the privilege of encountering new individuals and being part of significant milestones in their lives. It's a constant adventure, capturing fleeting moments that hold profound meaning for those I have the pleasure of photographing. There's a certain magic in freezing those heartfelt emotions, the laughter, the tears, and everything in between, knowing that these images will become cherished memories for generations to come.

Another aspect of photography that truly resonates with me is the ability to document the beauty of nature. Our world is ever-changing, and certain natural wonders may not endure in the years ahead. Through my lens, I aim to preserve these ephemeral elements of our environment, creating a visual legacy of the precious places that deserve to be remembered and appreciated.

Perhaps the most rewarding part of my role as a photographer is knowing that the art I create holds deep meaning for people. It's incredibly fulfilling to witness the joy in their eyes when they see their images for the first time. The knowledge that these photographs will be cherished and passed down through generations warms my heart. The thought that my art can play a small part in connecting families across time is truly humbling.

What types of shoots have you done and how did you make them special?

Throughout my career as a photographer, I've had the privilege of engaging in a wide array of shoots, each one unique in its own way. Regardless of the subject or the setting, I always strive to make every session truly special by establishing a genuine connection with the individuals or animals I am photographing.

For me, the key to capturing meaningful and authentic images lies in building rapport with my subjects. By establishing a connection, I create an environment where they can feel comfortable, relaxed, and free to express themselves. I find that this approach not only yields better results but also allows their true personalities and emotions to shine through the photographs.

Making the experience enjoyable and fun is paramount. Laughter and joy have a way of bringing out the best in people, and it reflects in the images captured. I believe that a relaxed atmosphere allows the essence of the moment to flourish, resulting in photographs that evoke genuine emotions and heartfelt memories.

Whether I'm photographing a person or an animal, the goal remains the same – to create a memorable and positive experience for everyone involved. Each session is an opportunity to capture a story, and I am grateful for the role I get to play in documenting these precious moments through my lens.

Throughout my college tenure, my artistic endeavors garnered recognition as my work found a place in various exhibits. Moreover, I had the privilege of collaborating closely with esteemed organizations in the Grand Rapids area, including RC Caylan Atelier, Design 1, b-VAIN Couture II, and OFFWORLDFASHION. These valuable experiences allowed me to refine my craft, expand my creative network, and contribute meaningfully to the local artistic community.

A fun fact about this photographer

During my college years, I had the privilege of residing in South Korea for a year to pursue studies in politics and the Korean language. This valuable experience allowed me to delve deeper into the intricate aspects of the country's political landscape while immersing myself in its rich linguistic and cultural heritage. Due to this, my horizon was expanded and my art developed greatly.
