More about Charles U....
What do you love about your job?
I love the surprise at getting nice pictures and knowing they are as cool as I hoped they would be. Documenting part of someone's experience is an important ritual. It may be the first ritual. But what really matters is the contribution a photograph may make to someone's theory of himself. I like being self-employed. I like stepping outside.
What types of shoots have you done and how did you make them special?
I photographed my mom, and she's shy of the camera. We used that in her obituary. I photographed my father when he was asleep in the nursing home. I never saw him again. I've photographed school kids weeding gardens. I made them personal style rather than a documentary. I've photographed sports events for charities. It's a good way to contribute. I'm privileged to photograph weddings, it's such an important day. I try to stay ready.

A fun fact about this photographer
I buy 24 pairs of the same gym socks and wear them all year long. Then I throw them all out and buy new ones. Also, I've had a full beard since I was a baby.
