More about Bernard W....
What do you love about your job?
I love connecting with interesting people, learning from artists and seeing beauty brought into the world. I have found for the most part, most people are, in some way, a little bit miserable, and photography allows me to bring light and beauty to them, which is rewarding.
What types of shoots have you done and how did you make them special?
I do a lot of corporate events and making them special is a fun challenge. Amongst the standard shots most clients need, I like to throw in ultra-wide architectural style shots to show off the space and add movement with a slower shutter or add a little flash at a low angle to get a rockstar look at an awards ceremony.
Awards, honors, and recognitions received
In 2022 I won the AFL Footy Focus award. I have also been shortlisted in the Australian Photography Award in 2022 and 2023. In 2022 I was also a finalist in the Australian Photography Prize. All award winning or shortlisted works were portraits from remote shoots in the Northern Territory.
A fun fact about this photographer
I am an amateur bee keeper. My hives are in Gippsland and my bees go hard to make the best honey in the world.
